London’s renowned Wide Awake Festival, held annually at the picturesque Brockwell Park, continues to solidify its status as one of the capital’s most distinguished and thoughtfully curated events.
Today, organizers have unveiled a wave of high-profile additions to their already impressive 2024 lineup, showcasing some of the brightest emerging talent from the leftfield music scene.
Set to grace Brockwell Park on Saturday, May 25, the newly announced acts include the esteemed Mercury Prize winner Young Fathers and UK post-punk favorites Squid. Renowned DJs Ben UFO and Helena Hauff are also set to take the stage, alongside electronic pop legend Alice Glass and Australian rockers C.O.F.F.I.N. Joining them are The Babe Rainbow, The Dare Decius, Etran De L’air, Crumb, Eartheater, Upchuck, and YHW Nailgun, with even more cutting-edge electronica and experimental pop artists yet to be revealed.
In keeping with the festival’s tradition of showcasing artists at the pinnacle of their careers, the lineup boasts a diverse range of talents. Young Fathers are riding the waves of their recent album Heavy Heavy on Ninja Tune, which garnered a spot on the 2023 Mercury Prize shortlist and clinched the Scottish Album of the Year Award.
Pennsylvanian multi-instrumentalist Eartheater has recently dropped her fifth album, Powders, with the highly anticipated follow-up, Aftermath, slated for release in 2024. Meanwhile, former Crystal Castles frontwoman Alice Glass has continued to soar since her debut solo album Prey//IV was released last year.
Adding another layer of excitement, acclaimed experimental DJ and composer David Holmes is poised to make a captivating appearance, treating festival-goers to his signature eclectic blend of cinematic, library, rock ‘n’ roll, psych, experimental, and unclassifiable music, all in support of his latest offering, Blind On A Galloping Horse.
These newly announced acts join the previously revealed headliner, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, on the bill. With the esteemed US radio station KEXP hosting the main stage, Wide Awake 2024 is already shaping to be an unmissable highlight on the festival calendar.
