We are just hours away from this year’s Met Gala, a spectacle of fashion that, this year, revolves around the theme of American fashion. But if you were looking forward to seeing what Kylie Jenner is bringing to the red carpet this year, you’re out of luck. Jenner announced via Instagram stories that she will not be in attendance for this year’s Met Gala, which is taking at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Jenner wrote on the Instagram story “I’m so sad I couldn’t make it tonight. I can’t wait to see all the looks.”
In an unsuspected turn of events, Jenner was reportedly attending the Met Gala as recently as last week, according to a report by E!. This is where she was supposed to actually unveil her pregnancy, before her Instagram announcement came out earlier this month. The source told E! ““[it] didn’t work out the way she had hoped,” bu regardless “[Jenner is] happy with the way it all turned out, she is very happy and thrilled to finally share such exciting news with all of her fans.”
So who could we expect from the Kardashian-Jenner camp to be in attendance? Both Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner are reportedly in New York City, Kardashian appearing at the MTV VMAs last night in Brooklyn, and Kendall Jenner for New York Fashion Week. Other Met Gala regulars from the family include Kim Kardashian, but it isn’t confirmed whether or not she will be in attendance.
We can’t help but wonder what made Jenner take back her appearance on such short notice. Was there a look that was already conceptualized and designed for her? And if so, what happens to it? We may not ever know if she had anything planned, but don’t languish for too long, as we’re sure we’ll see plenty of great looks tonight that will make up for the Jenner absence.
