Marvel Studios has premiered the first trailer and poster for their “Thunderbolts” film ahead of the movie’s release next Summer.
Shot in Atlanta, Utah and New York earlier this year, the film sees the team-up of some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s anti-heroes and villains as they go on missions for the government.
Effectively Marvel’s Suicide Squad, the team includes Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.
Also onboard are Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Geraldine Viswanathan as Valentina’s assistant, Laurence Fishburne as Bill Foster, Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, and Harrison Ford as U.S. President Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross.
The film is being directed by Jake Schreier, with a script from Joanna Calo, Lee Sung Jin, and Eric Pearson. The stars involved have discussed how this is Marvel trying some lo-fi filmmaking (ala “Echo”) with a focus on stunt sequences and realism along with avoiding CGI when possible.
Marvel’s “Thunderbolts*” is set for a May 2nd 2025 release.
