Elizabeth Olsen may be headed back to the MCU in a bigger way than fans expect! A new rumor suggests the Scarlet Witch has a big role to play in the multiverse and mutant saga.
Despite being a relatively minor character in the Infinity Saga, Elizabeth Olsten’s Scarlet Witch has become one of the new faces of the MCU almost entirely by accident. Her series Wandavision kicked off the multiverse saga with a bang, with almost every episode going viral, and become one of the few connecting threads across multiple projects as the villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While this film sadly ended with her character’s death, fans have still held out hope that she could return in a crossover film like Avengers: Doomsday.
Luckily, a new rumor seems to be bringing fans’ hopes to fruition. According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Elizabeth Olsen is set to play a major role in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. In addition, the Scarlet Witch will be getting two more Disney Plus spin-offs following the events of Wandavision. While many might see this as a way for the character to go out with a bang, it seems this may just be the start of Marvel’s plans for the actress in the MCU.
Elizabeth Olsen Joins The Mutant Saga
Two key details in the rumor are that Elizabeth Olsen will be getting her own solo movie as the Scarlet Witch, and that Marvel is poising her as a key player in the MCU’s upcoming Mutant Saga. Given that the character has had a long history with the X-Men, originally being a member of the Brotherhood of Evil mutants as the daughter of Magneto, it makes sense as to why they would want to push the character so hard in the coming years.
While the rumor doesn’t state what Marvel has in mind for Elizabeth Olsen’s role in the Mutant Saga, there’s some speculation that she may be the key to bringing the X-Men into the MCU. In the comics, the Scarlet Witch originally wiped out most of the MCU population with the words “No More Mutants”. Perhaps the studio hopes to cash in on that storyline while still keeping around their newly acquired mutants by having the heroine blink mutants into existence instead of out of it at the end of Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
