Fans at Churchill Downs on Black Friday, Nov. 29, will have the opportunity to honor one of the brightest stars in horse racing, Thorpedo Anna, the 2024 Longines Kentucky Oaks winner and one of the favorites to win 2024 Horse of the Year honors.
The standout 3-year-old filly will be paraded in the Churchill Downs paddock during Race 9, an allowance-optional claiming race for fillies and mares, from approximately 4:30-4:50 p.m ET. Thorpedo Anna will join the field for Race 9 during the walkover to the paddock and remain there throughout the race, giving fans a unique opportunity to celebrate her historic campaign up close.
The daughter of the late Fast Anna has secured $3,843,663 in career earnings, never finishing worse than second in 10 starts. Owned by Brookdale Racing, Mark Edwards, Judy Hicks, and Magdalena Racing, Thorpedo Anna has assembled a dazzling resumé this season under the guidance of trainer Ken McPeek.
Her dominance in the 3-year-old division includes top-level victories in the Kentucky Oaks, DK Horse Acorn Stakes, Coaching Club American Oaks, Cotillion Stakes, and most recently, the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff against older females at Del Mar. She also finished just a head behind Fierceness against males in the $1.25 million DraftKings Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course Aug. 24.
Following the ninth race will be the $300,000 Mrs. Revere Stakes as Race 10 and the $600,000 Clark Stakes Presented by Norton Healthcare as Race 11.
