Billie Eilish is no stranger to sustainable fashion, but she took it to another level when the 20-year-old superstar arrived at the 2022 Met Gala red carpet in custom, upcycled Gucci creation, made from all pre-existing materials.
Eilish’s gown featured a form-fitting corset, lace sleeves, and a ruched skirt in duchesse satin with padded bustle. The singer kept a bit of her signature punk flair through her dark whispy hair, choker necklace, and rings, and played up the theme of the night, Gilded Glamour, with her duchesse corsage with lilac accents.
Even her beige platform shoes (also Gucci) were made from vegan materials.
The seven-time Grammy winner said during the red carpet live stream, “We didn’t have to waste a bunch of stuff. It all already existed. I just wanted to be as eco-friendly as possible.”
In September, Eilish sported an Oscar de la Renta princess-style peach gown, but only chose the designer if they promised to stop using fur in their designs.
In September she thanked the brand on Instagram after the Met Gala writing, “Thank you @oscardelarenta for designing this BEAUTIFUL dress and bringing my ideas and vision to life. it was an honor to wear this dress knowing that going forward oscar de la renta will be completely fur-free!!!!”
Eilish is coming off of headlining two weekends at Coachella. She is currently touring across the globe.
