Is there bad blood between Lois Lane actresses? Amy Adams gives her thoughts on Rachel Brosnahan taking up the iconic role in Superman.
When it was first announced that Rachel Brosnahan would be playing Lois Lane in the new DC Universe, the internet erupted in collective cheers for what they saw as picture-perfect casting. Dozens of pieces of fanart were made within days showing potential looks for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star in the upcoming Superman reboot.
It wasn’t long before prior actresses to play the role of Lois Lane chimed in with their thoughts. Perhaps the most prominent with Elizabeth Tulloch, who currently portrays the character in Superman and Lois. Tulloch shared some kind words for Rachel Brosnahan in her post saying goodbye to her series, happy to be passing the torch and wishing Brosnahan the best of luck portraying the plucky reporter in the new DC Universe.
Amy Adam Speaks On Being Recast As Lois Lane
Amy Adams, who portrayed Lois Lane in Man of Steel and Justice League, was recently asked about Rachel Brosnahan taking on the role on Lois Lane in Superman. The actress was wholeheartedly supportive of Brosnahan, revealing her excitement to see her in action and admitting that her background in theater prepared her for giving up her role in the old DC Universe.
“I love her. She’s gonna be great. Hopefully the role will be infused with her sensibility and her natural humor and strength and wit…” Adams told Variety in a recent profile. “Coming from theater, a role never belongs to you. You just do a take on it. That’s how I feel about that franchise.”
It’s good to see that every actress to play Lois Lane is supporting Rachel Brosnahan taking on the mantle in Superman. It would be understandable for any actress to be protective over such a coveted role. However, no other action could show the spirit of the DC Universe’s greatest reporter more than Elizabeth Tulloch and Amy Adams excitedly passing the torch to a new generation of heroes.
Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
