Ayesha Curry, two-time New York Times bestselling author and food and entertaining expert, loves a beautifully decorated space around the holidays. But she also values keeping her home as pristine as it was before the holiday chaos.
That's why Curry is partnering with Command™ Brand this holiday season. She has been a longtime fan and user of their quick and easy-to-install hooks, which she will be using to revamp her own home into an earthy, warm, and woodsy space filled with neutral accents and lots of texture.
"This partnership is really about leaning into the festive nature of the holidays and creating the world you want within the decor space," Curry tells The Spruce.
Whether you're throwing a big soirée this upcoming season, or just having an intimate get-together with close family, we asked Curry for all of her easy and rental-friendly tricks to help you get started and excited to decorate.
Don't Damage Your Walls
Although Curry is an avid decorator herself, she emphasizes the importance of not damaging your walls, especially when it's for a temporary festive look. Curry says it's a big mistake to create permanent holes in the wall since they can become eyesores or even leave rough scruff marks after the holiday season.
Using Command hooks has been Curry's ultimate trick for staying stress-free—she can use as many as she needs all over her walls without being concerned about the aftermath.
"I don't have to worry about the damage it's going to cause," Curry explains. "I can have fun with it and go as big or as minimal as I want to."

Embrace Mistakes
It's common to decorate your space and then want to make changes immediately after. But it can be challenging to start over if the damage has been done by hanging up wall art or hammering nails and screws into the drywall.
But since Command hooks can easily attach to walls and be taken down as quickly as they were installed, Curry encourages people to embrace their mistakes and start over if they don't totally love the final look.
With the hooks, you can experiment with different decor and how it looks without feeling like you have to commit to it.
"I love all the possibilities," Curry says.
Honor Traditions
It can be easy to be caught up in the whirlwind of decorating trends, especially during the holidays. Although it's fun to incorporate new items and aesthetics into your space, don't forget to also honor your holiday traditions.
A nostalgic tradition Curry finds herself doing yearly is hanging all of her family's stockings above her fireplace, which creates a sense of comfort.
This year, Curry is opting for a monochromatic brown palette for her home and hopes to use Command's newest line of colored hooks to seamlessly blend them in with the rest of her decor.
Prep Items in Advance
If you're hosting this year, Curry recommends prepping some dishes in advance to help alleviate any pressures during the actual party.
"Don't be afraid of prepping things," Curry says. "Half cook something and prep it ahead of time, so you're able to pop it in the oven, set it, and forget about it."
Curry also suggests having something like a charcuterie or cheese board and some welcome drinks to hold guests over until the actual meal is ready to be served.
Additionally, if you're planning on mixing groups of people that might now know each other, Curry suggests preparing some easy conversation starters guests can get to know one another without the awkwardness or pressure.
